Biomimicry is a discipline that uses the imitation of models, systems and elements of nature for the purpose of solving complex human problems. In this course, students intimately study elements of their immediate, natural surroundings, and use this new knowledge to develop works of art that are site specific and multi-purposeful. Students uncover what nature has to offer through their personal experiences and further in-depth research. They then use the principles of Biomimicry to develop works of art that simulate the intricacies of the natural world. A natural form, process or ecosystem in nature is emulated to create installation art.
